BEIRUT: President Michel Sleiman will visit Tehran next month to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iranian president-elect Hassan Rouhani, sources in Baabda Palace told The Daily Star.
Sleiman is expected to be accompanied by a Lebanese delegation, likely including caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour, during his visit to Iran early August, the sources said.
Rouhanis swearing-in ceremony will be held on August 4, 2013, a day after he is endorsed by the Leader of the Islamic Republic, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Reform-minded Rouhani won Iran's presidential election in the first round in June with over 50 percent of the vote.
A number of heads of state and other leaders have been invited to attend Rouhani's inauguration.
Sleiman received a message last week from Rouhani in response to his congratulatory message on the Iranian president's June election.
The Lebanese president is currently in the United States on a several-day private visit to undergo an eye surgery.
