Head of Research, Education and Agriculture Promotion Organization says we hope to witness 250 million saplings planted by the end of the year.
According to The Iran Project Seyyed Mojtaba Khayamnekoui made the remarks at the opening ceremony of planting one billion trees campaign.
Noting that the campaign to plant one billion saplings is based on the popular movement he said the move is a turning point in the history of the Islamic Revolution.
The total planting of saplings in week of natural resources during the 44 years after the victory of the revolution is less than the number considered for the current year; This means that the number of trees that are going to be planted during this plan is more than all these years, he stated.
He went on to say that he entire capacity of the organization of research, education and promotion of agriculture in the field of natural resources is dedicated to this project.
We declare our readiness to involve all the research departments in this plan so that we can bring the future of the country's ecosystem to an acceptable figure for life, Khayamnekoui asserted.
In January, The Forests, Rangelands, and Watershed Management Organization had announced its plan to produce and plant one billion saplings across the country over the course of four years.
The Organization is determined to produce and plant one billion saplings with the participation of people benefiting from capacities that exist in the country, Abbas-Ali Nobakht, head of the FRWMO, had said.
