Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Nasser Kanaani condemned the hostile comments made by the US secretary of state at an annual meeting of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), stressing Tehran won’t hesitate to enhance its defense and deterrent capabilities.
In a statement on Tuesday, Kanaani dismissed the comments by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken against Iran at the annual IPAC meeting.
“The US secretary of state made baseless comments against the Islamic Republic of Iran in line with his country’s all-out support for the apartheid Zionist regime,” the spokesman said.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran has always emphasized that supporting the Palestinian nation is in line with supporting the oppressed and liberation movements and based on advocacy for the right to self-determination, negating occupation and fighting apartheid,” he added, the Foreign Ministry’s website reported.
“The threat of resorting to force by the US against other governments is against international law, especially the provisions of the United Nations Charter, and accordingly, the Islamic Republic of Iran will not hesitate to strengthen its deterrent power and protect its rights and security,” Kanaani said.
The spokesman advised the US officials to avoid leveling unfounded allegations against Iran and think twice about keeping up unlawful and already-failed policies vis-a-vis the Islamic Republic.
