Iran's female sprinter wins silver in 2023 Asian Junior Athletics

Female Iranian sprinter Nazanin Fatemeh Eydian demonstrated remarkable skills and determination at the 2023 Asian Junior Athletics Championships in South Korea and received a silver medal in the high-status tournament.

On Monday, Eydian clocked 1:00.01 minute at the women’s 400-meter hurdles at the Yecheon Stadium in the eastern South Korean county of Yecheon and landed in the second position.

Japan's Takino Miko grabbed the gold medal with 58.91 seconds, and Koloda Anastassiya from Kazakhstan registered 1:00.39 minute to receive the bronze.

The 2023 Asian Junior Athletics Championships is the 20th edition of the international athletics competition for Asian under-20 athletes. The competition opened up on June 4 and will conclude on June 7.

The event has attracted dozens of male and female athletes from various Asian countries, namely China, Chinese Taipei, Iran, Japan, Kazakhstan, Qatar, and Uzbekistan.

Last year, Nazanin Fatemeh Eydian had claimed a gold medal in the 4th Asian U18 Athletics Championships.

She won gold in the 400 m hurdles, clocking 1:01.03. It’s the first gold medal in the history of Iran in the women’s division.

In that competition, Anastassiya Koloda of Kazakhstan also won silver with 1:01.52, and the bronze medal went to Bo-an Yi of Chinese Taipei with 1:02.40.

The 2022 competition was held from October 13 to 16 in Kuwait.
