31 Dec 2022 - 16:51

In the Zolfaghar 1401 joint drills, the Iranian air defense systems including the low-altitude ‘Majid’ air defense missile system and ‘Khatam’ artillery fire control system targeted a range of aerial targets successfully.

Iranian Army units have launched large-scale military exercises, dubbed as Zolfaghar 1401 joint drills, in the southeast of Iran.

During the drills, the Iranian Army units targeted a range of aerial targets with advanced homegrown air defense systems including the low-altitude ‘Majid’ air defense missile system and ‘Khatam’ artillery fire control system.

Majid Air Defense System has been designed to deal with low-altitude threats, including small aircraft and cruise missiles, which can be installed on various platforms.

Equipped with a long-range thermal optical system, the air defense system is paired with the Khatam artillery fire control system to hit targets.

'Majid' short-range and low-altitude air defense system consists of a launcher loaded on 'Aras' military vehicle and an electro-optical fire control system and 'Kashef-99' radar was test-launched by Iran's Army.

On Thursday night, the Iranian Army's forces started a large-scale military exercise on the Oman Sea and north of the Indian Ocean.

The drills are aimed at testing indigenously-built military equipment and enhancing the country's preparedness against potential threats.
