Iran urges E3 efforts to ensure Iran's legitimate rights

20 Feb 2022 - 21:01

Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian on Sunday referred to ongoing talks between Iran and the five world powers in Vienna, underlining the need for France, Britain and Germany to fulfil their role and make efforts to ensure Iran’s legitimate rights.

Amirabdollahian made the remarks in a meeting with his Spanish counterpart José Manuel Albares on the sidelines of the 58th edition of Munich Security Conference (2020MSC) in the German city.

He said that the talks in Vienna have reached a point which requires political decisions by the Western side in order to be able to broker a deal.

The Iranian foreign minister also stressed that Tehran and Madrid have to expedite bilateral cooperation, on pharmaceuticals, water resources, renewable energies and transportation in particular.

Amirabdollahian invited the Spanish foreign minister to visit Iran.

The Spanish foreign minister, for his part, said that his country attaches special significance to relations with Iran, noting that keeping economic relations with Tehran during sanctions time was a difficult decision for Madrid to make.

Referring to Spain’s rotating chairmanship over the European Union, he said that Madrid is ready to boost cooperation with Tehran.
