Iran envoy warns IAEA of counterproductive actions

Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative in Vienna Kazem Gharibabadi warned the UN nuclear watchdog that any counterproductive action could disrupt the talks on the possible revival of the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.

“@iaeaorg  cannot disassociate itself from the destiny of the JCPOA,” Gharibabadi tweeted Thursday, warning that “Any counterproductive action disrupts the negotiation process.”

The diplomat also said:
Of course, I hope that wisdom prevails in the BoG next week:

- cooperation for cooperation

- goodwill for goodwill

- action for action.
Gharibabadi also emphasized that depoliticization, impartiality, independence, and professionalism were essential for the credibility of the IAEA and member states’ trust in its work.

“The Agency should plan for increasing cooperation and interaction with its MS’s rather to incept mistrust,” Iranian envoy stressed.
