'Egyptians oppose military coup with their head high'

ANKARA (AA) - Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that Egyptian people protected their votes by taking to squares peacefully without harming the brotherhood and peace in Egypt.


Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of Turkey's the 51st airport in Bingol, Turkish Premier Erdogan stated that Egyptians opposed the military coup proudly with their head high, especially at Rab'a al Adaweya Square.

"Our Egyptian brothers and sisters have been rejecting the military coup against them in Ramadan without resorting to violence and not mistaken by provocations. They ask 'Where is my vote? What happened to my vote?'" he told.

Erdogan noted that those, who thought they could decieve the people of this geography easily, were disappointed.

"They thought they could stage the coup in Egypt and go about their business, but Egyptian people have given the show away, their traps and tore down their scenarios," said Erdogan.

He argued that the same scenario was used against Turkey in Gezi Park incidents and protests, by pouring people to streets justifying environmentalism.

Touching upon the solution process, Erdogan strressed that they would never give up on the efforts to solve the Kurdish issue no matter how others got disturbed by the successful peace process, saying "We will never step back from the solution process."

"There are certain people disturbed by a growing and strengthening Turkey and Turkey's stance both at home and abroad by supporting peace, tranquility and brotherhood. We will never let those plotting and snaring against Turkey," he added.
