Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, reacting to the riot in the US capital that led to the deaths of four people, said that Donald Trump’s “unchecked authority” could cause a security concern for the entire international community.
“A rogue president who sought vengeance against his OWN people has been doing much worse to our people—and others—in the past 4 years,” Zarif wrote in a tweet Thursday, referring to the Wednesday violence in Washington, DC, after the US Capitol descended into chaos and violence with Trump’s blessing as hundreds of pro-Trump rioters swarmed the building as well as crippling effects of illegal US sanctions against Iran amid the country’s battle with the coronavirus pandemic, which also happened under Trump’s administration.
The top Iranian diplomat expressed concern over the US president’s ability to cause chaos and trouble, adding, “What's disturbing is that the same man has the UNCHECKED authority to start a nuclear war; a security concern for the entire int'l community,” Zarif wrote in view of the fact that Trump is prepared to cause chaos whenever he deemed necessary without considering the misery he can cause be in his own country or elsewhere.
