Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi dismissed any preconditions for the next US administration’s return to the 2015 nuclear deal.
In an interview with Entekhab news website, Salehi underscored that Iran would not approve of any preconditions for the return of Americans to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
He said Tehran would welcome the next US administration’s return to the nuclear deal, which was scrapped by the Trump administration in 2018.
However, such a return must be unconditional, Salehi stressed.
Last month, the spokesperson for the Iranian government reminded the administration of US president-elect Joe Biden that the first thing it needs to do to correct Washington’s wrong policies is an unconditional commitment to the 2015 nuclear deal.
