IranAir resumes flights to five European countries after pandemic shutdown

16 Jan 2021 - 20:43

Iran’s national flag carrier IranAir says it has resumed scheduled flights to five European countries which had been suspended over the past seven months due to the spread of the deadly coronavirus pandemic.

Head of the airline’s Public Relations Office Hossein Jahani told IRNA on Friday that flights to Britain, France, Austria, Germany and Italy had resumed on a scheduled basis.

He noted that the airline has now flights to the German cities of Hamburg, Frankfurt and Cologne in addition to those to Vienna, Madrid, London, Milan and Paris.

Jahani noted that IranAir informs its passengers to France, Britain and Austria on the latest flights information once every few weeks.

Following the outbreak of the coronavirus, IranAir in March suspended until further notice all flights to European destinations. It had already suspended its flights to destinations in more than six countries in the Middle East.

The pandemic has had a deep impact on Iran’s aviation industry amid sanctions imposed by the United States and allies that ban certain Iranian airlines from travel to and above major countries.
