Tasnim – President Hassan Rouhani paid tribute to Iranian physicians and medical society for their courageous battle in the war against the coronavirus pandemic, hailing them as heroes protecting the lives of people.
In a message on the National Doctor’s Day on Saturday, Rouhani lauded the heroes that devote their lives to save fellow citizens and stand at the forefront of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic courageously.
Above taking up a professional occupation, physicians accept a sensitive responsibility that reveals altruism and bravery, the president added.
In separate comments at a Saturday meeting of the Coronavirus Fight National Headquarters, Rouhani expressed gratitude to the medical society, doctors, nurses, and Health Ministry officials for handling the second peak of the pandemic in the country.
The president also stressed the need to observe the health protocols in the mourning rituals in commemoration of Imam Hussein (AS) during the month of Muharram (began Friday), saying Iran can offer a model for Shiite Muslims and others around the world.
Calling for online mourning ceremonies and Internet-based events, the president ordered the Ministry of Information and Communications Technology to keep the Internet bandwidth in the best conditions and ensure Internet connectivity during the mourning days.
Iran’s Health Ministry on Friday reported 112 deaths from the novel coronavirus, the lowest number of daily fatalities since June 28.
