Kazakhstan to step up grain exports to Iran up to 2.5 mln tons

Kazakhstan plans to step up grain exports to Iran up to 2-2.5 million tone.
It has been announced by Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan Assylzhan Mamytbekov at a press briefing today.

In his words, this will be possible after Uzen-Gorgan railway line is commissioned. Minister Mamytbekov also noted Central Asia, Caucasus and Western China are the perspectives areas for Kazakhstani grain exports. Currently, grain export to China amounts to 200 thousand tons, compared to only 15 tons exported in 2009.

In general, over this marketing year Kazakhstan has exported 7.1 million tons of grain, according to the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry.
