FNA - Meddling by the trans-regional powers and their regional allies is the main obstacle to the resolution of problems and crises in the Middle East, member of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Seyed Hossein Naqavi Hosseini said.
“If Americans and the Zionists don’t interfere and independent countries hold talks with one another, settling issues and disputes will be possible,” Naqavi Hosseini said on Monday.
He, meantime, said that positive messages that have been conveyed to the Islamic Republic from some regional countries such as the UAE and Saudi Arabia are welcomed by Iran.
“Military solutions cannot solve differences,” Naqavi Hosseini said, adding, “As an example it has been four years since the Saudi Arabia is stuck in Yemen’s quagmire.”
The Iranian lawmaker reiterated that countries should take practical steps in de-escalating tensions to build up trust in Iran, and said, “They cannot propose dialogue while beating the drum of military tensions and preparing the region for the presence of foreign forces.”
In relevant remarks last week, Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani blasted Washington for supporting Saudi Arabia in its ongoing mass killing of the Yemeni people.
“Iran welcomes mediation in the issue of Yemen, but the US still thinks that the era of milking Saudi Arabia is not yet over,” Larijani said.
In April 2015, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif submitted a four-point peace plan for Yemen to the United Nations in an attempt to end the bloodshed in the Arab country.
"It is imperative for the international community to get more effectively involved in ending the senseless aerial attacks and establishing a ceasefire," Zarif said in the letter.
He added in the letter that Tehran is ready to cooperate with the UN “to facilitate and encourage an immediate end to these senseless bombardments and initiation of a genuine dialogue to find a political solution to this tragic crisis”.
