Tasnim – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani accepted the resignation of Minister of Education Seyed Mohammad Bathaei who is leaving the office to run for a seat in the Parliament.

The office of the Iranian administration’s spokesperson announced on Thursday that Bathaei has resigned from the cabinet to run for the Parliament.

The president has accepted the resignation before the start of registration of parliamentary candidates, the office said, adding that the new caretaker of the Education Ministry will be assigned by the president on Saturday.

Iran is going to hold parliamentary elections in February 2020.

The Parliament had given a vote of confidence to Bathaei as the minister of education in August 2017.
