2 May 2019 - 13:51

IRNA - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a message lauded his current visit to Qatar and underlined the importance of creating regional dialogue forum.

'In Doha at ministerial meeting of Asian Cooperation Dialog. Important talks with Qatar’s Emir & FM, & ministers of several countries,' Zarif wrote in his Twitter account on Wednesday.

He added: 'Emphasized importance of creating a Regional Dialog Forum, & aligning our capabilities to contain expanding unilateralism. Interview w/ @AJEnglish.'

Zarif is on a visit to Doha to attend the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD).

The Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) is an inter-governmental organization created in Thailand on June 18, 2002 to promote Asian cooperation at continental level.

Earlier, Zarif met with foreign ministers of Kazakhstan, Turkey, Qatar and Sri Lanka.

Addressing the ACD meeting, Zarif said Iran is always steadfast in multilateralism.

'We also need to collectively address the alarming unilateralism of the current U.S. administration. The imposition of the will of a single power over all other nations is an existential threat—sooner or later—for everyone,' Zarif said.

He further expressed that 'Unless we align our capabilities to secure multilateralism, a rising and aggressive unilateralist wave can cover the entire world, quickly replacing the rule of law with the rule of the jungle.'

'Let me assure you that in the relentless pursuit of dialogue and multilateralism, Iran will always be a steadfast partner, Iranian foreign minister reiterated.

The ACD was founded by 18 members. Since March 2016, the organization consists of 34 states.
