President: No choice but to withstand enemy’s idle talks

2 May 2019 - 13:04

IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that there is no choice but to resist illegitimate and illogical demands as well as idle talks of the enemies.

Addressing a session of Kermanshah province’s administrative council, he added that the enemies created very difficult conditions in 2018 and 2019, which requires double efforts.

“Enemies have launched a big economic and psychological war against Iran,” he said, adding that the people should know that their elected government was not the one which started the economic conflict.

“In imposed war (1980-88 Iran-Iraq, we did not start the war but we did not allow the enemy gain victory over us and occupy even an iota of our territory,” he said.

“We have not violated JCPOA since the day it took effect on January 16, 2016, and we have kept our words, as the IAEA has verified compliance with the deal on behalf of Iran,” he said.

Some in the US have breached all international commitments one after the other, Rouhani said, noting that they created problem not only for Iran but also for the entire world.

All the parties to the JCPOA have infringed upon the nuclear deal, as the Europeans have uttered good words but they were not good in action, he said.

“The Americans say in regional issues and defense technologies, Iran should move on a track we set, but we do not seek permission from anybody for defense capabilities,” he said.

Reiterating that the US has failed to convince world public opinion, president said that the people have understood that the US’ claim that it is a supporter of the Iranian nation is a lie.

The US is the most terrorist country in the world, as it has blocked flow of medicine and foodstuff to Iran and has also trampled upon the rights of the Palestinian and Syrian nations, Rouhani said.
