IRNA - A livestock vessel, carrying thousands of Romanian sheep, berthed at Iran’s south-eastern Chabahar Port for the first time since the strategic port was inaugurated in 2017 to provide Iran with a faster connection route to the world waters.
President of Ports and Maritime Organization of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province, Behruz Aqai has told IRNA that 47,090 head of livestock, originating from Romania, are being unloaded from the carrier that arrived at the Chabahar Port on Friday.
“Following the port’s inauguration, we’ve done good marketing to receive all kinds of ship to be able to further develop the port,” he added. The port can receive heavy ocean-going vessels weighing more than 100,000 tons.
