Iranian official condemns Israeli attacks on Gaza Strip

16 Mar 2019 - 9:44

Tasnim – The secretary general of the Iranian parliament’s Permanent Secretariat of the International Conference on Supporting Palestinian Intifada (Uprising) strongly condemned Israel’s Friday airstrikes on the Gaza strip.

In remarks released on Friday, Hossein Amir Abdollahian described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “terrorist” who resorts to any kind of crime like his predecessors to gain victory in the Knesset elections.

Netanyahu has organized the attack on the innocent people of the Gaza Strip to achieve this sinister goal, he noted.

Amir Abdollahian further deplored the Tel Aviv regime’s behavior as a major factor behind instability and insecurity in the region.

He also voiced the Islamic Republic’s continued support for the Palestinian people’s resistance and their efforts to restore their legitimate rights.

The remarks came as Israel launched air attacks on Gaza hours after rockets were fired near Tel Aviv, raising fears of a major escalation in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Explosions were heard in the Gaza Strip early on Friday and Palestinian witnesses said Israeli planes bombed Hamas security positions.

About 30 raids targeted positions held by the military wing of Hamas and its ally Islamic Jihad, causing significant damage, a Gaza Palestinian security source told AFP news agency.

Local Palestinian agencies reported that a woman and her husband were both injured in the southern city of Rafah, but did not provide further details.
