Iranians never compromised on Islamic Revolution, Jannati says

Tasnim – Chairman of Iran’s Assembly of Experts Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati underlined the people’s role in foiling enemy plots to overthrow the Islamic Republic and said they have never retreated from their stance on protecting the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Addressing a meeting of the Assembly of Experts in Tehran on Tuesday, Ayatollah Jannati pointed to the massive presence of Iranians in the rallies marking the 40th anniversary of the Islamic Revolution victory and said the revolution has been preserved despite all hostilities of the world powers toward Iran.

The Iranian people have never retreated from the stance on the protection of the revolution, he said, adding that the 40th year of the revolution is “the fruit of the martyrs’ blood”.

“Our enemies had said that the Islamic Republic could not celebrate its 40th anniversary, and they had planned for the era after the revolution’s overthrow, but thanks to the blood of the martyrs and the sacrifices of our wounded veterans, their conspiracies have been foiled,” the cleric stated.

In relevant remarks in December 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei dismissed comments by US officials that the Islamic Republic would not see its 40th anniversary, saying the Iranian nation will celebrate the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Revolution this year more magnificently than before.

Pointing to the uncovered plots that Americans have hatched over the past two years to harm Iran, such as imposing sanctions and assisting Iran’s foes, the Leader also noted that the US objective was to create bipolarity and division in Iran through sanctions and anti-security measures.

The Iranian nation toppled the US-backed Pahlavi regime on February 11, 1979, ending the 2,500 years of monarchy in the country.
