IRNA – Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammad Javad Azari-Jahromi said on Wednesday that Companies from Qatar, Armenia and Iran signed a cooperation agreement today to transit information from Persian Gulf to Europe.
After a meeting with the Armenian Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technologies Hakob Arshakyan, he added in a press conference that Iran and Armenia have had cooperation in the field of ICT, including transit of information from Iraq to Europe via Armenia which took place on the basis of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) among Iran, Iraq and Armenia.
Referring to history of excellent ties, Jahromi said that he explored avenues for boosting cooperation with his Armenian counterpart.
“We agreed to start cooperation in cyber security and promote exports of information technology products and developing digital economy,” he said.
Describing Armenia as a good neighbor and trade partner, he pointed out that the two countries are determined to enhance cooperation.
Armenian minister, for his part, referred to good potential of cooperation in Iran, Armenian and other regional states, saying that the two countries have already started cooperation and they are waiting other countries join the efforts to promote regional cooperation.
“Armenia is getting ready to make further investment in the field of ITU and undertake common cooperation with Iran,” he said, hoping that the two countries will gain good achievements in future.
