IRNA – An earthquake, measuring at 4.4 on Richter scale, hit an area in western Iran on Wednesday morning.
Occurring at the depth of 9 kilometers, the quake jolted Abdanan in Ilam Province and broke the windows of some buildings and cracked some walls.
Abdanan Governor Sirous Moradhasseli told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) that the schools in the area are closed on Wednesday due to possible aftershocks.
A disaster management center has been set up to assess the damages, he said.
