IRNA – Russia's Minister of Economic Development Maxim Oreshkin says volume of cargo transit and transportation from Iran to Russia will increase once the agreement on establishment of a free trade zone between the Eurasian Economic Union and Iran is approved.
Oreshkin made the remarks in an interview with reporters on Friday on the sidelines of his visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan to inspect operations for construction of a bridge on Azerbaijan-Russia border.
Oreshkin predicted that transportation of cargo from Iran, which is a signatory to the Free Trade Agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union, to Russia via Azerbaijan will increase in volume.
He stressed that construction of the new bridge on Russia-Azerbaijan border will be of special strategic importance regarding increase in the volume of cargo transportation from Azerbaijan and Iran to Russia.
Oreshkin opined that Russia and the Azerbaijani Republic will use the capacity of other border crossings to increase the volume of transport.
