Pressures unite Iranians: Intelligence reports say

4 Feb 2019 - 12:43

IRNA – Sanctions and pressures united Iranian people against the US, a senior lawmaker quoted intelligence officials as saying on Sunday.

The American officials are desperaUS Ste about the approach that should be adopted against Islamic Republic of Iran because increasing pressure would lead to the unity of Iranian people against the US, Ali Najafi Khoshroudi, the spokesman of the Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said while elaborating on the topics discussed during intelligence officials' meeting with the commission members on Sunday.

Speaking to Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA), he added that the United States Intelligence Community has also acknowledged in its reports that pressuring Islamic Republic to force it to negotiate is a wrong policy.

Iranian parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission on Sunday hosted a meeting with Intelligence Minister Mahmoud Alavi and other top officials in his ministry.

The US president announced early May that Washington would pull out of Iran nuclear deal and reinstate sanctions, which had been lifted under the accord.

The first round of the sanctions snapped back into place in August, with the second round, targeting the energy and oil sectors that took effect on November 5.

This is while other signatories to the deal (i.e. Britain, France, Germany, China and Russia) have thus far criticized Washington's unilateral move and repeatedly renewed their commitment to the deal.
