IRNA – Iranian Vice-President for Legal Affairs Laya Joneidi said on Saturday that the US exit from Iran nuclear deal (JCPOA) has halted the commitments of other parties to the deal, calling on them to take the necessary steps to prove “real and effective stay” in the international commitments.
Speaking during a meeting with representatives from the executive bodies, Joneidi said that the US withdrawal from the JCPOA was illegitimate, cruel and illegal.
The UN nuclear agency has repeatedly confirmed Iran's adherence to the JCPOA, while the US has no clear reason for quitting the deal and just says that the accord is insufficient, the vice-president said.
Noting that Iran expects the EU to take some measures, Joneidi said that if EU real and legal entities notice that extra-territorial regulations are affecting their financial and economic interests, they have to report such cases and should not adapt themselves to such regulations and can even do more and ask for compensation.
The US has passed extra-territorial regulations, for instance they say the US dollar cannot be used for transactions which are regulations contrary to the JCPOA commitments and the Treaty of Amity between Iran and the US.
The US deprives companies having cooperation with Iran from tenders held in the US or even creates limitations in issuing license for activity, the official said, adding that all of these run counter to Article 11 of General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT).
