IRNA - Iran reiterated that the discussions with the Europeans were merely related to special purpose vehicle (SPV) and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and they are not linked to other issues.
'Of course, we have been discussing different issues with Europe since past, but the JCPOA and SPV are separate issues and not related to other subjects,' Iran's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi said at his weekly conference on Monday.
Answering a question that some university professors from the European countries stated that Iran was seeking High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Federica Mogherini’s guarantees, Qasemi said, 'These are academic comments. Our officials and negotiators have the necessary intelligence and the ability to use all opportunities.”
'There may be various comments globally, but their veracity cannot be verified; of course many of these are political comments.” the Iranian official added.
Asked about the number of visits by the Iranian foreign minister to the region as compared with his other visits, Qasemi highlighted, 'The number of our travels to the regional countries have been the highest.' Most of the president's trips have been made in Asia, which has been around over 20 trips.
The spokesman said that Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has always tried to work with regional and neighboring countries as his recent visits were to India and Iraq.
'The travel by some officials to these countries was carried out overnight and not done in the daylight, but the trip by the foreign minister has been done in daylight, and other regional travels is on the agenda of the foreign ministry,' he emphasized.
