IRNA – The fast boats of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) will be upgraded to become stealth and equipped with missiles, Rear Admiral Ali-Reza Tangsiri told the Islamic republic News Agency.
'In the IRGC Navy, speed and mobility in the operations have been focused on,' said Admiral Tangsiri.
He added that the IRGC is equipping the boats with 'new, very small missiles'.
Pointing out that the IRGC has the fastest boats in the world, he said it is trying to push the speed up to 80 knots per hour or even further.
Regarding the presence of the US flotilla in the Persian Gulf, he said that it has not entered Iranian waters but it is under constant observation of Iran.
'Iran has repeatedly announced that it is ready and able to provide the security of the Persian Gulf with the help of the regional countries.'
He added if one of the atomic warships of the US faces a problem in the Persian Gulf, it will badly hurt the environment of the closed gulf.
Admiral Tangsiri said that the presence of foreign forces in the Persian Gulf is hurting he security, and added that the dependence of the Islamic statesmen on the foreign countries is a 'disgrace'.
'We extend a hand of friendship toward Muslim countries.'
According to western media, a US aircraft carrier, namely USS John C. Stennis entered the Persian Gulf on December 21, for the first time after the US withdrawal from the internationally accepted Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, aka Iran Deal, on May 8.
