IRNA – A senior Iranian military commander said on Saturday morning that Iran has the largest and the most powerful fleet of helicopters in the Middle East.


A strong parts manufacturing industries is needed behind the fleet in order to compete in regional level, said Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force’s Airborne Division (Havanirouz) Brigadier General Yousef Qorbani in a helicopter parts manufacturing conference held in Iran’s capital city of Tehran.

He emphasized on smoothing the way for better engagement of Iranian elites and knowledge-based companies in manufacturing helicopter and its parts, adding that it can greatly help Havanirouz accomplish its missions and operations.

'We must be ready to defend the country against regional and trans-regional threats,' he noted, emphasizing that Havanirouz covers all the borders of Iran.
