Cut-off of all Iran oil exports, impossible: MP

1 Nov 2018 - 16:33

IRNA – Claim that Iran’s crude oil exports will be brought to zero is just like a political and economic ballyhoo, a member of Majlis (Parliament) said on Thursday.

Dream of cutting off all exports of Iran’s crude oil will never come true, Mohammad Reza Pour-Ebrahimi, Chairman of Majlis Economic Commission, said at a local meeting in this southeastern Iranian Province of Kerman.

After Washington's May 8 exit from the Iran Deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the US gave a 90- to 180-day wind-down period to other countries before it starts re-imposing sanctions on Tehran on November 4. The US move drew criticism of the world leaders, particularly the Europeans.

American officials thought in vein that their bullying behavior will work, but today, they found that they should alter such stance and avoid it, Pour-Ebrahimi said.

Many world countries have stated that they will not follow US sanction policy and will continue cooperation with Iran, the lawmaker said.

All enemies’ plots can be handled, he concluded.

In related development, first Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said in late October that the United States will not be able to bring Iran’s oil exports to zero as the Iranian government has drawn up a plan and provided a mechanism for managing the country.
