ISNA - Alkhaleej Online claimed that Saudi Foreign Minister, Adel Al-Jubeir established secret contacts with Iran weeks ago to reach political understanding.
The Arabic-language network quoted a senior diplomatic source revealed to Alkhaleej Online that there are secret contacts between Saudi Arabia and Iran to reach political understandings.
According to the source, the phone calls held by Adel al-Jubeir weeks ago, aimed at reaching an understanding between Iran and Saudi Arabia on a number of regional issues, especially Yemeni crisis.
The contacts come at a time when Saudi Arabia is facing the most intense pressure from the international community since the September 11 attacks, after confessing the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi inside the country’s consulate in Istanbul earlier this month.
Saudi Arabia has cut diplomatic relations with Iran after demonstrators stormed its Tehran embassy to protest against Riyadh’s execution of the Saudi Shia cleric Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr.
