UN identifies five countries as victims of terrorism in 2017

IRNA – Head of the UN Information Center in Tehran Maria Dotsenko said on Sunday that in the year 2017 about 3/4th of the victims of terrorists were in Afghanistan, Iraq, Nigeria, Somalia and Syria.


Addressing a group of academicians on UN support for victims of terrorism, she said the United Nations established in October 24, 1945 with the mottos of preventing war and promoting peace.

73 years after establishment of the United Nations, the body has been faced with many global challenges such as terrorism and has done its utmost to deal with them, she said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran has adopted initiatives to promote peace, friendship and dialogue which plays a significant role in the world, she said.
