Iran denies role in Turkey’s protests: spokesman
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Araqchi denied any Iranian role in the recent protests in Turkey, semi-official Fars news agency reported Wednesday. On Tuesday, Turkey’s state-run TRT TV reported that the Turkish police had arrested an Iranian national over alleged charges of provoking protesters at Kizilay Square in the Turkish capital of Ankara.

 
Big powers urge Iran to heed nuclear demands
Six world powers are urging Iran to heed demands aimed at easing fears that it might want nuclear arms. The United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany say it is `’essential and urgent” that Iran reach an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency that will allow the IAEA to investigate suspicions Iran worked on such weapons.

 
Iran UN envoy stresses political solution for Syria unrest
An Iranian envoy to the United Nations has reaffirmed the Islamic Republic’s stance that the ongoing crisis in Syria should be settled solely through political approaches. Addressing a meeting of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva, Iran’s Ambassador to the UN Office there Mohsen Naziri-Asl underlined the need for a political solution to the unrest in Syria.

 
Iran scientist wins UNESCO Young Scientist Award
An Iranian scientist has been named as one of the winners of 2013 UNESCO Young Scientist Awards for her outstanding contribution to the management of biosphere reserves. The International Coordinating Council of the Man and the Biosphere (MAB) program made the announcement after meeting at UNESCO’s headquarters in Paris from May 27 to 30.

 
Iran congratulates Syria over recapture of al-Qusayr
Iran has congratulated the Syrian nation, government, and army on the success of the Syrian military forces in recapturing the strategic town of al-Qusayr in Western Syria. Iran also condemned certain sides that facilitate the shipment of arms to the militants in the Arab country for the massacre of the Syrian people, emphasizing that those behind the carnage in Syria must be tried for war crimes.
