MNA – Iranian VP Masoumeh Ebtekar says that the review of Law on Protection of Children and Adolescents in the Parliament will address online child abuse issues.

Masoumeh Ebtekar, Iranian Vice President for Women and Family Affairs, told the local media on Sunday that the Law on Protection of Children and Adolescents is being examined in the Iranian Parliament.

“One of most important articles of this bill is about legal prosecution of offenders charged with online child abuse,” she said addressing a conference on empowering women and the role of communications and information technology.

“Information technology is an opportunity which can also be harmful if used improperly especially in regards with the Internet and that’s why education in this area is very important,” added the Iranian official.

“The Law on Protection of Children and Adolescents is currently being worked on in the Parliament and one of its key issues of focus is the government’s attention to virtual sphere and the Internet,” she highlighted.

Voicing for the bill’s ratification as soon as possible, Ebtekar recounted that the bill has been devised to sue online child abusers too.
