Qatar urges PGCC states to give up hostility towards Iran

26 Jul 2018 - 12:28

IRNA - The former Qatari prime minister urged the (Persian) Gulf Cooperation Council to give up hostility towards Iran.

PGCC member states should accept Iran as a neighbor with a different policy and avoid extreme hostility towards Iran, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim said in a message released in his twitter account.

He pointed to the US threat to re-impose anti-Iran sanctions and noted that it is an opportunity for the PGCC to enter into talks with Iran and try to prepare the ground for peaceful co-existence among the Persian Gulf littoral states.

US President Donald Trump announced on May 8 that Washington would pull out of Iran nuclear deal and re-impose nuclear sanctions on the country.

This is while most world powers, including Russia, China, and the European Union have repeatedly stressed that keeping the deal is in the interest of the world peace and security.
