Iraq protests kill 13 injures 729: Latest figures

IRNA – Public protests in Iraq have left at least 13 dead and injured 729 more in the past two weeks, a member of the Supreme Human Rights Committee in Iraq said referring to the latest statistics.


Releasing a statement, Fazel Al-Gharavi announced that 460 Iraqi security forces and 269 protesters have been injured during the protests.

He added that some 757 people were also arrested but most of them were released over the past two days.

The protests caused damages to 91 residential and governmental buildings as well as cars.

Thousands of Iraqis also protested on Friday against government’s inattention to public services, long-term electricity disconnection, water crisis, problems in agriculture sector and unemployment.
