Tasnim – Head of military office of Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei denied rumors that Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari is going to be replaced.
In an interview with Tasnim on Saturday, Brigadier General Mohammad Shirazi quashed rumors about a plan to replace IRGC Chief Major General Jafari.
“Presently, replacement of the IRGC commander is not on the agenda at all,” he underlined.
Ayatollah Khamenei, also commander-in-chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, has the authority to appoint the military commanders in Iran.
Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari has been in the office since September 2007.
