Tasnim – Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani offered his congratulations to former Turkish prime minister Binali Yildirim over his election as the speaker of Turkey’s new parliament.
In a message released on Friday, Larijani expressed his “most sincere congratulations” to Yildirim for his new post.
He further underlined the important role of parliamentary diplomacy in boosting the bilateral relations between Tehran and Ankara.
Larijani also expressed confidence that the parliamentary ties between the two countries will enter a new stage during Yildirim’s tenure.
Turkey’s new parliament elected Yildirim as its speaker with the votes of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP).
As the joint candidate of the “People’s Alliance” of the AKP and MHP, Yildirim was elected as parliament speaker in the third round with 335 of the 584 votes in secret ballots at the parliament on July 12.
