US exports to Iran jump by 60% in 5 months

Tasnim – The total value of US exports to Iran during the first five months of this year has increased by 60 percent compared the same period in 2017, according to the latest data released by the US Census Bureau.


The Census Bureau’s data showed that US exports to Iran from January to May this year rose 60 percent year-on-year to $50.2 million.

From January to May 2017, the United States had exported $31.2 million worth of goods to Iran, according to the report.

This is while, US imports from Iran over the five-month period in 2018 dropped by 16 percent to $28.6 million. US imports from Iran over the first five months of 2017 had stood at $34.1 million, the data indicated.

The bilateral trade between the Islamic Republic and the US from January to May this year also amounted to $78.8 million, showing a 20% increase, compared to the same period last year, according to the data.

The trade transactions between the two countries in the first five months of 2017 had amounted to $65.3 million, the report said.
