IRNA – Enemy is not after targeting President [Hassan] Rouhani or the Islamic Republic system, but it intends to annihilate Iran, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Sunday.
'It is Iran that is blocking them to achieve some of their ends and ambitions,' Zarif said at a meeting attended by officials from the Iran's Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture in Tehran.
The enemy is after targeting today's Iran with its strategic geographical position, historical entity, rich resources and great people, he emphasized.
'And we all, together, will foil their plots, the top diplomat said.
He referred to the global sanctions against Iran before the nuclear deal and noted that that now, the US is isolated and the world does not follow Washington's policies.
EU has strategic interests to save the JCPOA, the foreign minister added.
He pointed to his talks with the European countries, including Russia, India, China and South Africa and said that all of them are interested to save the JCPOA.
Zarif urged Iran's private sector to establish a committee to boost cooperation among Iranian companies with the small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in Europe.
'Iran's withdrawal from the nuclear deal is the goal of US propaganda and diversionary attempts,' he added.
US President Donald Trump announced on May 8 that Washington would pull out of Iran nuclear deal and reinstate nuclear sanctions on Iran.
This is while most world powers, including Russia, China, and the European Union have repeatedly stressed that keeping the deal is in the interest of the world peace and security.
