17 Jun 2018 - 11:20

MNA – Iran’s national volleyball team lost the match 3-2 to Serbia at the fourth week of Volleyball Men’s Nation League (VNL).

In a match held in Chicago on Sunday, Iran suffered loss after winning Poland in their previous match.

Iran took the first set (25-21) and raised hopes for another great victory. However, Serbia showed quality and gained the next 2 sets (25-22, 27-25).

Iranian players once again proved their dominance and earned the fourth set (25-20) and gave spectators chance to enjoy the great match for another set.

Eventually, Serbia took this last set (15-11) to rank 7 at the VNL standings.

Ranking 11 at the table, Iran will face US in their next match on Monday.

“It was tough. We played as hard as the match before but tonight Serbia won. I’m happy because they really have an opportunity to play in the final, but also I’m sad because we had an opportunity to win in this condition. We had a lot of problems with our players with injuries. During the game, one of our important young players – Morteza Sharifi – got injured. For that reason I am sadder with this defeat, but life goes on and tomorrow we have a new game. We will try to keep this energy for the next game,” said Iran coach Igor Kolakovic after the game, Volleymob reported.
