IRNA - Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Marie Eriksen Søreide says the preservation of 2015 Iran nuclear deal officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) is important for international security.
Speaking to NTB news agency on the sidelines of a conference on Syria in Brussels, the Norwegian foreign minister recommended Iran and the US not to withdraw from the international deal.
Referring to her talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and US officials in New York, she claimed to have held transparent talks with the Iranian foreign minister and US secretary of state on the importance of staying in the JCPOA.
Holding more talks on strengthening the JCPOA would be a positive move, the Norwegian foreign minister said.
The foreign ministers of Iran and Norway held talks in New York Tuesday on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly Top-level Meeting on Sustaining Peace.
On Wednesday, Søreide held talks with the EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini on the Iran nuclear deal, on the sidelines of the Syria conference in Brussels.
