Press TV - Iranian discus thrower and London 2012 Olympics silver medalist Ehsan Haddadi has featured dazzling performances at the USSD competitions in the United States, and snatched a gold medal.
The 33-year-old Iranian sportsman finished in the first spot and struck the yellow medal with his best throw of 68.85 meters in Chula Vista city, located just 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) from downtown San Diego.
Haddadi recorded 59.40 meters in his first attempt, and threw 67.99 meters in the second.
“I am so delighted to have once again recorded a throw beyond 68 meters after six years. It was a great contest and I hope to extend my success in future competitions and the Diamond League,” he said.
“Currently, I am training under the tutelage of Mac Wilkins. Fortunately, I could get a satisfactory result through his training. I am now in an acceptable mental state,” Haddadi added.
The Iranian discus thrower is preparing for the 2018 International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) Diamond League.
