IRNA - Iranian President Hassan Rouahni on Saturday slammed US air strike on Syria, saying it is against international principles and blatant support for terrorism.
Rouhani made the remarks Saturday in a phone conversation with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
The US together with its allies the UK and France targeted the Syrian capital city of Damascus early Saturday.
The US attack on a military base in Homs, western Syria injured 3 civilians, Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) earlier reported.
The recent aggression was not limited to Syrian territory but to regional stability and settlement.
The aggressive measure adopted by three countries against the Syrian government and people is considered an act in support of terrorism in the region, Rouhani said.
Ignoring the sovereignty of a country means trying to create instability and unrest in the region, he added.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Rouhani underlined the importance of respecting the territorial integrity of Syria, saying Syrian geographical borders should not change.
He reiterated the fact that presence of foreign forces without the Syrian government's consent is against international regulations and is considered aggression on Syrian territory.
No foreign country can decide about future of Syria and the Syrian people, he said.
Iran will continue its efforts with Russia and Turkey in international fora to maintain peace and stability in Syria and in the region, he noted.
According to Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA), President al-Assad briefed President Rouhani on the details of the aggression and how the country confronted it.
President Assad said that the aggression came after the failure of the terrorists in achieving the goals of the countries involved in the war on Syria.”
The Syrian president reiterated that this aggression will lead to nothing rather it will increase the Syrian people’s determination to continue fighting and crushing terrorism in each and every inch of the Syrian soil.
