president.ir- The president opened the 110-kilometer long Firouzan-Kermanshah railway on Tuesday, hours before the turn of the new year.
Dr Hassan Rouhani appeared in Kermanshah Railway Station and opened the Firouzan-Kermanshah railway project, ordering the first passenger train to leave Kermanshah for the holy city of Mashhad.
When opening the project, the president said: "I open the project of connecting Kermanshah railway to the national railway network by appealing to the spirit of His Holiness Ali (PBUH)”.
Dr Rouhani also ordered the Kermanshah-Mashhad train to leave and congratulated the people of Kermanshah, saying: "I announce the start of first trip of Kermanshah train from this beautiful city to Mashhad”.
The west railway project starts from Samangan Station for 605 kilometres and passes through Malayer, Nahavand, Kangavar, Sahneh, Kermanshah, Islamabad-e Gharb, Gilan-e Gharb and Qasr-e Shirin and reaches to Khosravi town located on the border of Iran and Iraq. It is then connected to the port of Lattakia through Khanaqin, Baghdad, Mosul, Qamishli, Deir ez-Zor, Raqqa and Aleppo.
