IRNA – Formation of a trade union in Middle East and Persian Gulf is an 'inevitable necessity for our region,' Iran's ambassador to Kuwait said on Saturday.
'Our region is suffering from lack of [effective] economic cooperation and union,' Ali Reza Enayati told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) in an exclusive interview.
The region will be secure when no foreigners meddle in its affairs, he added. 'Dialogue is the most effective solution to the regional problems.'
Enayati pointed to the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's remarks in which he stressed Iran is a friend to its neighbors and moves along with them toward solving the regional questions.
'There are two attitudes towards the region, one focusing on military security and one on economic security.'
The first attitude, he said, has been imposed on the region by the foreign countries to excuse themselves for increasing their military presence in the region and sell their weapons and military equipment to the regional states.
As to the second attitude, the ambassador added, it makes sense after preparing the ground for tourism, financial, trade and economic cooperation.
Asked about the ways to bring about sustainable security to the region, the Iranian diplomat said sustainable security will be attained only if the regional countries promote their cooperation on the basis of tourism, energy and trade.
Foreigners follow the policy on injecting insecurity into the region, he said concluding that the regional problems have political and economic solutions.
