IRNA – Iranian envoy to UK Hamid Baeidinejad in a meeting with the Director of the British Museum Hartwig Fischer held talks over joint cultural cooperation.

“My meeting with the Director of the British Museum and discussing great potential in the two countries for collaboration. I had the opportunity to visit Iran's section in the Museum which keeps many Iranian ancient artefacts [artifacts] including the Cyrus Cylinder,” Hamid Baeidinejad said in a Twitter message released on Sunday.

Fischer was satisfied with his first visit to Iran and was really impressed by rich Iranian civilization, Baeidinejad said in the Telegram message.

The British curator referred to Pasargadae and Persepolis as one of the rarest human civilization heritages, Iran ambassador added.

Pasargadae was the capital of the Achaemenid Empire under Cyrus the Great who had issued its construction; it is also the location of his tomb.

Persepolis was the capital of the Achaemenid Empire. It is situated 60 km northeast of the city of Shiraz in Fars Province, Iran. The earliest remains of Persepolis date back to 515 BC. It exemplifies the Achaemenid style of architecture.

During his trip to Iran 2 months ago, Fischer visited National Museum of Iran, Islamic Era Museum and Iran-Armenia museum.
