23 Jan 2018 - 10:33

IRNA – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said in a live televised speech late Monday that there is no problem for protests and demonstrations held within legal frameworks.

However, insecurity and tension harm people, he said, noting that despite small fluctuations, peace and calm have always prevailed in the country.

Elsewhere in his speech, Rouhani said, “We promised security and calm to the nation and are still keeping our words.”

He further noted that the atmosphere should become more open day by day so that that people can be creative, as talents are nurtured in open, free and calm atmosphere.

President Rouhani often addresses the Iranian people in live televised speeches to brief them on his administration’s performance and future plans.

He was reelected as Iran's president on May 19 with more than 23.5 million votes on a platform of economic development, creating jobs and promoting social freedoms among others.
