IRNA - Visiting semi-autonomous Kurdistan region's Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani said the Kurdistan region is proud of having friendship with Iran.

Talking to Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani, Barzani said the Islamic Republic has always supported the Kurdish people.

He added that Iran and Iraqi Kurdistan region enjoy historic and deep-rooted relations.

Referring to Iran's efforts in establishing security in the Kurdistan region during the attacks of Daesh terrorist group, he stressed that the two sides' relations would not be undermined by ill-wishers' efforts.
