IFP - Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and Speaker of the Senegalese Parliament Moustapha Niasse have called for expansion of bilateral ties, particularly in the field of agriculture.
In a Monday meeting in Tehran, the Senegalese official noted that his country wants to use Iran’s experience in the agricultural sector, including the export of tractors and harvesting machines to Senegal.
He said his trip to the Islamic Republic of Iran is of great significance, and called for continuation of Iran’s economic cooperation with Senegal, especially in car export sector.
Niasse further called on Iran to support his country’s nominee for the post of Secretary-General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
In turn, Zarif touched upon the importance of Senegal’s role in West Africa and expressed Tehran’s readiness for expansion of ties with the African country, especially in the production of vehicles and tractors there, and exporting them to other neighbouring countries.
The Iranian top diplomat also noted that he is prepared to travel to Senegal during his next trip to Africa.
