IRNA – A light earthquake measuring 4.1 on Richter scale shook the city of Qasr-e Shirin in western Province of Kermanshah on Friday morning.

The quake was felt in western Iran at 10:02 AM local time (06:32 GMT).

Seismography Center affiliated to Tehran University's Geophysics Institute reported the location of the quake at 34.52degrees latitude and 45.69 degrees longitude, with a depth of eight km.

There was no initial report of injuries or damage to infrastructure.

Since the November 12 earthquake measuring 7.3 on Richter scale which claimed 620 lives and wounded 12,386 individuals in Kermanshah Province, to December 26 over 1,600 aftershocks have been registered in this region.

Iran is one of the most seismically active countries in the world, as it straddles several major fault lines that cover at least 90% of the country. Some of the tremors which hit different parts of Iran have been destructive, causing huge number of damage to life and property.
